Around the Mustang trek



Upper Mustang is a Trans-Himalayan kingdom that has always been a major attraction for the visitors.The kingdom of Mustang has been prohibited to the foreigners for the longtime.Only after 1992 it was opened gradually for those people who are in search of distinct landscapes of Nepal,the high desert region of the Tibetan influence where we can explore thousand years of old monastery,caves and local tribes.This region is one of the very few places in the world where we can have an experience of ancient and authentic Buddhist culture and tradition.This circuit provides a complete tour of Mustang.

Itinéraire par jours
Day 1: Reception at the Kathmandu airport by the Agency and transfer to your hotel.
Day 2: Exploration of a few historical monuments of Kathmandu: Pashupatinath, Boudhanath (visit Guide on request) – Hotel.
Day 3: Departure for Pokhara bus at 7: 00 in the morning, ( flight on request) arrival at Pokhara around 3: 00 in the afternoon, free time to roam lake city, Hotel.
Day 4: Departure to Jomsom with an unforgettable flight over deep gorges of Kali Gandaki between the peaks of the Annapurna (8091 m) and Dhaulagiri(8167m) – beginning of our trek in the Valley of the Kaligandaki to Kagbeni 2800 m, 3 h 30 walking, very beautiful village renowned for Tibetan architecture and also entry point of the Upper Mustang, – Lodge.
Day 5: entry in the Upper Mustang and Walked up to Chele we ascend the Kaligandaki through arid landscapes up to Tangbe and Tsusang, and then we arrive to Chele, splendid landscapes, 3100 m. -5 hour walk – Lodge.
Day 6: We leave the Kali Gandaki walking through a deep canyon to reach the mountain pass of Dajori – at 3700 m, great view on the massif of Damodar himal and the Annapurnas. After the pass we will come slightly down to the village of Samare, 3650 m, after the crossing of another pass at 3800 m. Afterwards we descend down in a narrow gorge where we can visit the natural chorten in a Cave. walking by the side of of beautiful massive of rocks a slight climb leads us to Syangboche and then a small descend takes us to Gheling village. (3500 m) – 7:30 walk – Lodge.
Day 7: We leave the pastures of Ghiling to climb to another pass of Nya-la 4000 m, – superb panorama of the mountains from the top and beautiful view of Ghami village. We then continue to the village of Dhackmar (Red Cliff), 3800 m – 5 h 30 walk – Dhackmar or Ghami lodge.
Day 8: we go through Dhakmar pass -, 4000 m, a panoramic view from the pass allows us to discover a large part of the Mustang, then the gentle descent into the mountain pastures that join fields to reach the village of Charang (2nd large village of mustang) 3580 m – 4 hour of walk – Lodge.
Day 9: We will reach today Lo Manthang (3820 m), capital of the Mustang: We go through the beautiful village of Marang with these agricultural activities. After reaching there we will make a tour of the monastery of Lo Gekar, the oldest monastery of Nyingmapa of the Mustang, which dates back to the 8th century. We go back to a pass across the meadows of altitude which opens the Valley of Lo Manthang,3820m – 6 hours – Lodge.
Day 10: Stay in Lo-Manthang discovering the old Citadel, visit of the fortress and of the monasteries which showed the richness and wealth of this medieval city, and small walk around Lo manthang – Lodge—
Day 11: A walking tour in the Valley of Garpu and Chooser (possibility of the tour by jeep or hors options available; payable locally) to Lo Manthang to walk back through the villages of Nyiphu and Nenyul – 6 h 30 . Lodge.
Day 12: Walking to Yara on dry ridges, then a steep down to to the oldest village of Dhi 3400 m, and then after lunch we cross Kali Gandaki and walk through a spectacular gorge, 3600 m – 5 h 30 walk – Lodge –
Day 13: Excursions to the surroundings with the superb monastery of Luri Gompa(4000m) visit, a monastery digs into the fireplace of fairies 5 h 30 walk back ,views of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri from the village of Ghara, Yara. –Lodge
Day 14: Yara to Tange, a climb to a pass at 3700 m then we cross a large Dhe-khola, and climb to a 2nd pass at 3980 m, then the path brings us down walking through a large plateau, 3200 m. -7 hours walk – Lodge.
Day 15: Long and beautiful walk to Tange to Tsutsang by passing the high pass of Paha (4200 m) Start our journey by climbing to the pass of Paha, exceptional views of the whole of the mustang area and the peaks of Dhaulagiri 8167 m and Annapurna 8091 m. Picnic for lunch and walk until we arrived to Tsusang, 3000 m. -9h. -Lodge.
Day 16: Tsusang to Muktinath through the Ghyu -la 4100 m(it is possible to hire a horse up to the high pass) and discovered the snow massifs of Annapurna and the Dhaulagiri ranges, we leave the pass of the Mustang to arrive at Muktinath – 6 hours – 3800 m-Lodge.
Day 17: Walking through the village of Lupra to Jomsom, we leave in the direction of the Nilgiri North. A small pass of Dangla has 3900 m and descent between the pastures towards the small village of Lupra before joining Jomsom – 6 hours – 2700 m-Lodge.
Day 18: Flight to Pokhara and relaxation – Hotel .
Day 19: Pokhara-Kathmandu by tourist bus (possibility to fly on request) free day – Hotel.
Day 20: Transfer to the airport.
